@moomoodeath, ok … @moomoodeath, ok what about people who live in alaska? Where the sun is out almost all day in one season and is down almost all in day in other seasons? Are they just in an unfortunate situation? I guess it would just be what you teach your body, if you go to bed at 3pm everyday, and wake up 11pm, then that will be your “healthy” sleeping time.
it’s time in … it’s time in relation to when the sun goes down, which is why we have time zones in the first place, or else the sun would set at 4 in the afternoon in someplaces. The concept is basing your sleep around the day instead of just getting the propper number on hours whenever
Actually if … Actually if sleeping from 1am to 9am is not the “proper time” to sleep, then how does your body know what time zone you are in. If someone on the west coast goes to sleep at 10pm, it’s actually 1am for me. I think you just need 8 hours of sleep, doesn’t matter when those 8 hours are.

In fact, I suspect there was a great deal of daily stress in the life of an average cave-man, who, by the way, probably rarely lived past his twenties.

I was an insomniac … I was an insomniac for the longest time. The trick I found is to head up to bed at 10 and READ A BOOK. It makes your eyes tired and you’ll be out in less than 20 pages. AND you read books so it’s a win win. I agree about the lights too. Bright lights are often used to reset people’s clocks on long flights. Ever notice that you don’t have as much jetlag on a night time flight than you do if you take a day time flight?
